Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the OB/GYN department at our Detroit location. The role focuses on delivering quality patient care, supporting providers, and ensuring a smooth patient flow.

You will greet patients, document histories, check vital signs, assist during exams, and handle related administrative duties to maintain efficient clinic operations. A 160-hour externship or one year of clinical experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program with clinical externship (160 hours) OR 1 year of clinical experience in the past 5 years.
• Five years of clinical medical assisting experience or current LPN license OR EMT/Paramedic with relevant clinical experience.
• Current BLS certification at hire or by end of orientation.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).OR

Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.OR

Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).OR

Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.OR

Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

• Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
