Job summary

Northwest Physicians Group in Amarillo, TX is hiring a Medical Assistant to support physicians in examinations, take vital signs, perform venipuncture, and prepare exam rooms. You will document care in the Electronic Medical Record and assist at the front desk as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a Medical Assistant certification, current BLS, and is skilled in medical terminology, patient check-in/check-out, and basic computer systems such as Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant certificate required or must obtain certification within six (6) months of employment
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant
• Familiarity with medical terminology required
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions

• Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure under physician supervision
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients and assist in covering the front desk as required
• Support in examining and treating patients under physician direction and documentation in EMR

Responsibilities

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. Position: Medical Assistant

Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.
