Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. (IPM/Universal Hospital Services) is seeking a Medical Assistant in Amarillo, Texas to support physicians in examinations, take vital signs, assist with venipuncture, and maintain EMR documentation. The role includes front desk support as needed within a busy outpatient setting.

Required are a High School Diploma, Medical Assistant certification (or within 6 months), and BLS. English/Spanish bilingual skills are preferred to serve a diverse patient population.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant certificate or equivalent certification expected or obtained within six months.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association on hire or within 30 days.
• Experience with patient check-in/check-out and basic clinic procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and document in the EMR under physician direction.
• Measure vital signs (pulse, temp, BP, weight, height).
• Perform venipuncture and related procedures as directed.
• Prepare treatment rooms and assist in examinations.
• Assist at front desk as needed and support clinic operations.

Responsibilities

Northwest Physicians Group formed in 2013 with a focus towards population health management. The group has grown to a network of over 40 providers serving patients at numerous primary, specialty and urgent care locations in Amarillo, Texas. Northwest Physicians Group is affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System, a 495-bed system acute care hospital that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region. Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. Position: Medical Assistant

Position Summary:This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician
within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.

• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions
