Job summary

UPMC's BMA Duncansville is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday, with shifts scheduled from 7:30am to 4:00pm, 8:00am to 4:30pm, or 8:30am to 5:00pm. No holidays, evenings or weekends are required.

Occasional travel to other office locations may be required based on staffing needs. One year of prior medical office experience is preferred but not required. Title and starting pay rate may vary based on years of experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam/procedure room and assist as needed.
• Collect patient information/history; taking vitals and performing screenings per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment; maintain infection control and inventory.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health; maintain confidentiality and follow policies.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians and document information.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals; schedule appointments and verify insurance.
• Prepare and manage charts; front office responsibilities as required.
• Under supervision, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
