Job summary

BayCare in Tampa, FL is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN to join MLK Adult Orthopedics. The role supports providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments and maintains patient histories, lab prep, and specimen transport.

You must have an approved Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months or an active license/certification; EMT/NREMT, Paramedic, or LPN are also accepted. In-person, Mon-Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with excellent benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active Medical Assistant certification or license preferred within 6 months of hire.
• EMR experience and strong patient communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with patient examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Handling patient histories and routine lab procedures.
• Prepares specimens for lab transport and maintains education materials.
• Creates and maintains patient EMR records and ensures OSHA/CLIA compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Assists providers with patient examination, procedures, and treatment.
• Responsible for patient histories, routine lab procedures and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab.
• Follows up on test orders and reports results to provider and patient, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies.
• Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR).
• Complies with all OSHA and CLIA regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Approved Medical Assistant Certification required within 6 months of hire date or proof of active license/certification.
• Or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or NREMT (Nationally Recognized Emergency Medical Technician)
• Or Paramedic
• Or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
• Required High School or Equivalent
• Preferred 2 years Medical Assistant
