Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in providing specialized patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

The role includes clinical and administrative duties, with responsibilities spanning patient prep, exams, specimen collection, injections, and coordination of tests and referrals.

Qualifications

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred or as required by State.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patient to exam room, obtain medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints, and document in the medical record.
  • Assist with patient flow to ensure timely visits.
  • Support high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families and care providers.
  • Assist physician/advanced practice provider in exams and procedures under supervision.
  • Perform applicable medical procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, and perform venipuncture as allowed by state regulations.
  • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by the physician or nursing staff and ensure understanding.
  • Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, follow-ups, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and instruments maintained; assist with sterilization as required.
  • Respond to calls and requests for referrals, triage messages, and coordinate with clinic staff and pharmacies.

Overview

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in providing specialized patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties specific to the practice’s area of focus. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. The Medical Assistant's primary responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and escort patient to exam room, prepare patient for visits by obtaining medical history, current medications, allergies, and chief complaints and document all information in patient medical record.
  • Assist with patient flow to ensure timely visits.
  • Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
  • Provide assistance to physician and/or advanced practice provider in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision of physician and advance practice provider. .
  • Perform applicable medical procedures collect, and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, and perform venipuncture, as allowed by state regulations.
  • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physician, advanced practice provider, or nursing staff and ensure patient’s understanding of the information.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians and pharmacies. Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred or as required by State
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred

Experience Industry: Healthcare

Experience:

  • 1+ years in an office-based setting preferred.

Pay Range (Base Pay): $23.00 - $36.49 per hour

Starting Pay Range (Base Pay):$23.00 - $30.00 per hour

Full-timeis classified as team members who are consistently scheduled and work 30 hours or more on a weekly basis.Full-time team members are eligible for the following:

TeamMembers are eligible to begin participating in the ESPP if they have been employed by Pediatrix for two consecutive months prior to the start of each calendar quarterly offering period and are scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week for five consecutive months during the year.

Paid Time Off:All full-timeteammembers are eligible for PTO that may be used for time away from work.Team members hired before the 15thof the monthaccrue PTO the first month of employment;however,team members hired on or after the 16thof the month begin accruing PTO the month following date of hire.Team membersare entitled to PTO according to the following methodology:

Team members accrue PTO as they work up to the maximum accruals stated above. Full-timeteammembers who work less than 40 hours will accrueon apro rata basis.

Paid Holidays:TheCompany observes the following Holidays: New Year’s Day; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Friday after Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; and 1 Floating Holiday.

NOTE:The paid holidays above are offered to regular full-time team members upon employment. Full-time team members who work fewer than 40 hours per week will receive holiday pay on a pro-ratedbasis.
