UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Maternal Fetal Medicine team at Magee Women's Hospital, caring for high-risk OB/GYN patients.

Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required. The role involves both back and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their experience and education.

Responsibilities:
  1. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals; complete forms and requisitions; schedule appointments; verify insurance and patient info; manage charts; perform other front office tasks.
  3. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, clean between visits, manage inventory.
  4. Check schedules, organize patient flow, assist patients with mobility and specimen collection, take vitals, perform screenings, relay instructions.
  5. Answer calls, provide patient education.
  6. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, labs; assist physicians; document patient info.
  7. Comply with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality.
  8. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
