Job summary

Virtua Health seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians by obtaining vital signs and medical history, and by documenting chief complaints. You will prep patients for exams, assist with procedures, and help with routine front desk duties as needed.

The role is on-site in Lumberton, NJ, with a comprehensive benefits package and an hourly rate reflected in the posted range ($19.54–$29.20). Growth through certification is encouraged and supported.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; BLS required.
• Certification deadline in DE within 1 year of hire when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining vital signs, chief complaint, and documenting history.
• Prepares exam room and assists physician during visits as directed.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens for processing.
• Administers vaccines and completes required documentation.
• Performs diagnostic tests (EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc.) under physician supervision.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to protocol.
• Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed.
• Maintains clinical supplies and supports front desk tasks as needed.

Summary:

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint. Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam.
• Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing.
• Administers vaccines and completes required documentation.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screen and directs patient calls according to established protocol.
• Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education:

HS diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire. BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate:

$19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
