Job summary

The Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care and routine procedures. You will room patients, record vital signs, prepare for examinations, and assist clinicians with tests and treatments in a busy outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Medical Assistant Program Diploma or equivalent experience and may have EMT-P or Military Medic training. Excellent teamwork and a commitment to compassionate care are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical assisting experience.
• Military Medic or EMT-P training acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs including height, weight, temperature, BP, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and medical history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures.
• Assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests as ordered.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine lab tests.

Responsibilities

Purpose:

• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

• A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

• Medical Assistant Certification
