Job summary

The Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care at our Columbus, Ohio locations. You will assist medical and nursing staff, room patients, collect specimens, and help prepare treatment rooms in accordance with clinical protocol.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent plus related MA training or experience. Certification is preferred; tuition reimbursement is available for MA certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:
  • Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program, or 1 year of medical assisting experience, or Military Medic training, or EMT-P training.
  • Certified MA preferred; tuition reimbursement program available for certification.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
  • Complete patient interview and history.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures; assist with physician orders.
  • Assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests as directed.
  • Set up equipment and prepare treatment rooms for patients.
  • Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine lab tests.

Education

Medical Assistant Program diploma
1 year medical assisting experience
Military Medic training
EMT-P (Paramedic) training

Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Medical Assistant roles assist with direct patient care, and perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. Assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

  • Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
  • Complete patient interview and history.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
  • May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
  • Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
  • Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

  • A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience
  • Military Medic training
  • EMT-P (Paramedic) training
  • Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

  • Medical Assistant Certification

Pay Range

USD $17.84 - USD $28.75 /Hr.
