Job summary

Lovelace Medical Group is hiring a Medical Assistant for day shift roles in Albuquerque, NM. The position offers full-time or PRN options with a $2,500 sign-on bonus and requires EMR proficiency and basic office skills.

The MA will support patient visits, perform vital signs, manage records, and assist with referrals and insurance authorizations within a modern clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• EMR and MS Office knowledge
• BLS certification within 14 days of start
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Graduate from an accredited MA program
• CMA or RMA certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Enters, maintains, and reports medical history and filings using EMR.
• Supports patient visits: greet patients, escort to exam rooms, record vital signs.
• Sterilizes and prepares instruments; ensures rooms are clean and ready.
• Maintains inventory and stocks supplies for all exam rooms.
• Manages referrals and insurance authorizations; communicates with pharmacies and labs.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant:

Responsibilities

• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients, and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
• Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
