Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is a vital member of the patient care team, supporting physicians and clinicians in delivering high-quality health care to ambulatory patients. They help facilitate patient transitions into the provider’s office and perform tasks to promote patient health, including:

• Assisting physicians with clinical duties such as taking medical histories and assisting in physical examinations
• Acting as a liaison between patients, physicians, and clinicians
• Measuring patient vital signs
• Preparing and administering vaccines/medications
• Documenting patient information in the electronic health record
• Collecting specimens for testing

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least two years of verifiable medical assistant experience within the last five years
• Good communication skills and experience using a keyboard and computers
• Familiarity with ambulatory care equipment
• Current AHA CPR certification
• Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed
• Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations
• Resilient and adaptable to change
• Cooperative and team-oriented
• Ability to make sound, timely decisions and work rotating shifts any day of the week
• Ability to perform patient lifting/transfer activities, including lifting up to 35 pounds without assistance; for heavier lifts, patient handling equipment and additional staff are used, assessed case-by-case
