Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform selected nursing and clerical duties that assist in patient care management.
• Maintain efficient patient flow, assist physicians during exams, and perform all necessary follow-up accurately and promptly, ensuring quality care.
• Be knowledgeable of medical terminology, routine office procedures, and medical instruments.
• Skilled in taking vital signs.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Screen phone calls from patients for the provider.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school Diploma or GED
• BLS, PALS, or ACLS may be required for certain units
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program or over 3 years of MA experience
