Job summary

Ridgeview Medical Center in Minnesota seeks a Clinical Support Specialist to assist providers and nursing staff in a specialty clinic. You will accompany patients, obtain vitals, document in EMR, and support physicians during visits.

The role requires graduation from a Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing, plus CPR certification and an LPN CMA or RMA licensure/certification timeline. EMR experience is preferred and patient education is part of the duties.

• Current LPN licensure or CMA or RMA; new grads have 1 year to obtain licensure/certification

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination room and document vitals in EMR
• Assist in documenting patient visits by entering physician dictation into EMR
• Administer prescribed medications/vaccines per clinic policy
• Prepare equipment and assist with examinations, testing, and treatments
• Turn over rooms between cases and at end of day
• Perform specialty procedures/tests as directed by physician
• Maintain stocked supplies and sterilize instruments
• Assist in arranging referrals/prior authorizations
• Provide patient education
• Perform other duties as assigned

Purpose of Job

This casual position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel in a specialty clinic. Facilitates patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions

• Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR.
• Supports physicians in documentation of patient's visit by entering physician's dictation into the EMR system during the patient's visit.
• Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure.
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
• Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day.
• Performs specialty procedures/tests as directed by the Physician
• Helps maintain stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.
• Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
• Provides patient education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
