Job summary

Ridgeview is seeking a flexible nursing support professional to float between Westonka and Winsted Clinics, assisting providers and performing diagnostic Lab and X-ray procedures. Responsibilities include taking vitals, documenting in EMR, administering medications, preparing equipment, and aiding in referrals, patient education, and room turnover.

Candidates should graduate from Medical Assisting or Practical Nursing, hold LPN CMA or RMA license (or equivalent), possess CPR, and be proficient

Qualifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting or Practical Nursing program.
• Graduate of clinical laboratory program or demonstrate job competencies.
• Current LPN licensure or CMA or RMA, with 1 year to certification.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain vitals, and document in EMR.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per clinic policies.
• Prepare equipment and assist providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
• Perform room turnover in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day.
• Assist in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
• Assist with patient education.
• Assist with lab and X-ray procedures as directed.

Job Functions

When performing nursing support functions

• Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
• Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
• Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
• Assists with patient education
• Performs other duties as assigned

When Performing Lab And/or X-ray Functions

• Maintains stocked supplies and inventory
• Sterilizes instruments, exam rooms and equipment
• Performs testing procedures as required
• Prepares procedure room/area and instructs patients
• Troubleshoots and maintains equipment
• Completes daily QA/QC procedures and provides maintenance/adjustments to equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs/MAs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)
• Current CPR certification

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

• Ability to multi-task

• Knowledge of x-ray safety for patients and personnel
• Knowledge of proper patient positioning and state radiology regulations
• Skill in performing quality control and maintaining records
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities When Performing Lab Functions

• Ability to troubleshoot problems with lab testing, equipment, patient samples, and kits
• Skill in performing quality control and maintaining records
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems

Preferred Qualifications

• EMR experience
• X-Ray Operator License (grandfathered prior to 2007) or completion of AART limited scope Operator examination per Minnesota Department of Health
• Previous lab experience
