PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. Supports clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating pediatric patient population. The Laboratory Medical Assistant Floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support in either the MA role or dedicated Lab station.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
MA Diploma / Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years MA experience will commensurate Diploma / Certification requirement.
Active BLS certification required.
Active & valid drivers license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices.
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly.
