Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Michigan team. Under provider supervision, you will perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a seamless patient experience, from greeting patients to documenting histories and vital signs.

You will support clinicians during exams and procedures, and handle administrative duties to enhance clinic workflow. A Medical Assistant credential or relevant experience is required, with EPIC EMR familiarity a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant program with 160-hour externship or 1 year clinical experience if no externship.
• Certified Medical Assistant with 1 year clinical experience preferred.
• LPN or EMT/Paramedic with clinical experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms for a welcoming experience.
• Obtain and document accurate medical histories from patients.
• Measure and record vital signs, prepping patients for exams.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures for patient safety.
• Perform administrative tasks to support the clinical team and workflow.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
