Job summary

Howard Community College is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant Instructor to deliver classroom and clinical instruction in the Medical Assisting program. The role emphasizes preparing students for national certification and employment in outpatient settings.

The successful candidate will teach both theory and lab components, utilize Canvas LMS for online/hybrid delivery, and maintain accurate student records while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA, RMA, or equivalent) or licensed healthcare professional.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in medical assisting or outpatient care.
• Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
• Completion or willingness to complete instructor training or education methodology coursework.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student success and excellence in healthcare education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with national certification standards and industry practices for medical assistants.
• Teach classroom and laboratory components of the Medical Assisting program.
• Utilize the learning management system (LMS), Canvas, to support online and hybrid instruction.
• Evaluate student performance through written exams, and skills assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements for medical assistant education.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student learning and continuous program improvement.
• Provide mentorship and career guidance to students pursuing roles in ambulatory care and allied health.
• Participate in professional development and maintain current certifications and credentials.
