Job summary

Ross Education Holdings in Jackson, MI is seeking experienced Medical Assistants to become instructors for year-round classes as Primary Scheduled Instructors or Secondary Instructors ready to step in as needed for teaching assistants and substitutes (PRN). Sessions include evening M–TH and morning PRN opportunities.

You will teach in the Medical Assisting classroom with up to 24 students, delivering lectures and demonstrations using Ross lesson plans and curriculum.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the medical assisting field with formal training.
  • Must obtain national certification as a medical assistant.
  • Interest in teaching or prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn and grow.

Job description

Medical Assistant – Instructor

Job Location: Jackson, MI

Evening Classes M–TH, 5:30‑10, 9 hours/week (Primary Scheduled Instructors). Morning PRN Instructors also needed.

We are looking for experienced Medical Assistants to become fully trained instructors in year‑round classes as Primary Scheduled Instructors or Secondary Instructors ready to step in as needed for teaching assistants and substitutes (PRN).

Responsibilities
  • Teach in the Medical Assisting classroom with a maximum of 24 students, covering clinical and administrative skills.
  • Deliver lectures and demonstrations using Ross lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Work part‑time, typically 9–18 hours per week. Sessions are 4.5 hours in either day or evening slots.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in the medical assisting field and formal training from an accredited institution. Must obtain national certification as a medical assistant. Individuals without a formal education must have a minimum of 5+ years experience in the medical field and national certification. Additional requirements apply based on state, program, and accreditation requirements.
  • Interest in teaching or prior teaching experience.
  • Flexibility and passion to learn and grow.
Required Skills & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move around the building and classroom to meet student needs, and facilitate student participation.
  • Visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use whiteboard, and work with classroom/office equipment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to use current technology to maintain student records.
  • Effective communication in classroom and individual settings.
  • Knowledge of subjects to be taught and ability to use and communicate Ross curriculum.
  • Adaptation to a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Ability to achieve or maintain credentials and/or licensure within expected timeframes.
  • Professionalism in manner, dress, and conduct as a representative of Ross and a student mentor.
  • Objective treatment of all students equally.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Adherence to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics.
  • Clinical Coordinators must be able to travel to visit clinical sites or attend meetings.
  • Prior teaching or formal tutoring experience using a developed curriculum is preferred.
  • Perform related work as required.
