About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion: Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

Description

Under direct supervision of the clinic supervisor and the general supervision of the clinic providers, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the Business and Professions Code of the State of California and the regulations of the Joint Commission of the Accreditation of Hospitals (TJC).

These duties also include but are not limited to: all aspects of front office management, appointment scheduling, patient check-in, authorizations, accurate billing, payment processing, supply chain and forms management. Back office duties require equipment management, environmental care functions, cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize demands and ability to work in a team environment. Position may also require administration of vaccines and assist with patient treatment.

Use electronic medical record software for patient charting, patient screening for medical issues, translation services (Bilingual English/Spanish), chart preparation. Occasionally float to other departments to assist.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant Training program.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Two (2) years or more of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Prior Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a large, complex Healthcare system.
  • Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning / disinfecting the environment.
  • Knowledge of online scheduling, universal precautions, and body mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

Perferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years recent (within past 6 months) experience as a MA in an ambulatory medical practice.
  • Medical terminology training or certification.
  • Prior experience in neurology or specialty practice.
  • Prior experience with EPIC electronic medical record.
  • Previous back office experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,671 - $57,671 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.62 - $27.62

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
