Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support clinicians in outpatient settings across Dover, Milford, and other Bayhealth locations. The role includes taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, and assisting with basic procedures while maintaining patient records in Epic.

The team emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and patient-centric care. Required is a High School Diploma or GED with Basic Life Support certification and 18 months of related clinical experience

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Credential: Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Experience: 18 months as Medical Assistant, CNA, or Patient Care Tech in a clinical setting; or 1 year if completed Bayhealth's Internship MA Training Program.
• Preferred: Two years in a clinical setting for patient history, vital signs and office flow.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and vital signs; document in Epic.
• Set up exam rooms and sterilize instruments.
• Assist physician/APC with simple procedures; chaperone for female patients as needed.
• Maintain patient records and confidentiality; comply with Joint Commission and CLIA.
• Greet patients; process forms for medical and financial records; obtain signatures.
• Perform patient registration and obtain insurance authorizations.
• Schedule new and follow-up appointments; coordinate referrals.
• Maintain efficient patient flow; support day-to-day operations.
• Assume other duties within scope of job responsibilities.
