We are seeking a Medical Assistant II for our Outpatient Cancer Center clinic at The Medical Center. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, providing patient care and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow and assisting with provider schedules to ensure efficient patient care.

All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing to comply with occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from the National Healthcareer Association
  • CMA-AAM - Certified Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P - Certified Emergency Medical Technologist from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
  • LIC PAR - Licensed Paramedic from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
  • NCMA - National Medical Assistant Certification from the National Center for Competency Testing
  • NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant from the National Association of Health Professionals
  • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant from recognized certifying bodies
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries regarding appointment status, wait times, or issues
  • Use the patient management system to check-in patients and manage accounts
  • Update patient statuses daily to reflect cancellations, no-shows, or reschedules
  • Prioritize patient rooming based on appointment and arrival times
  • Assist licensed staff with inpatient admission processes as needed
  • Escort patients and assist with paperwork
  • Collect and document patient and family data accurately
  • Report abnormal or out-of-range data to RN or provider
  • Ensure requisitions contain complete clinical, demographic, billing, and payor information
  • Monitor patient flow and adjust staffing to minimize wait times
