Job summary

Akron Children's is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under a Provider or Licensed Nurse. The role includes phlebotomy, vital signs, specimen collection, data entry in EPIC, and patient coordination.

Requires a Medical Assistant program, BLS, and excellent knowledge of medical terminology. Prior experience is preferred but not required; on-site work with a $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program or EMT/Paramedic program required.
• Basic Life Support (AHA) required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicates patient findings to Providers or Licensed Nurse.
• Documents care in EPIC system accurately and timely.
• Schedules appointments, prepares visits, handles co-payments and patient tracking.
• Performs department-specific clinical duties like POCT and vision/hearing screenings.
• Cleans and stocks examination rooms; assists with general office duties as needed.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Adheres to safety policies to maintain a safe environment.
