UTHealth Houston Neurosciences is hiring for a Medical Assistant II to join their team of professionals. The MA II will be responsible for scheduling appointments, coordination with external entities, patient intakes, coordinating patient care via referrals, scheduling and answering patient inquiries, scheduling surgeries, triaging patient calls, and more. Experience in a surgical practice is a plus.

Position Summary:
Functions as a member of clinical team performing a supportive role in the delivery of patient care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
Use and care of standard clinic equipment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) may be required
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one (1) year of experience (in addition to the one year of experience required to meet the experience requirement) AND certification may be substituted for Medical Assistant training program.
Minimum Experience:
One year of related experience
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
