Job Description

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintains patient flow during clinic hours. Documents review of systems; measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respirations, blood pressure, weight, and height; updates medical history and medication list at each visit. Records patient information accurately in EMR.
  2. Prepares patient charts by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing test results and reports. Accesses external websites or facilities for necessary information. May serve as Super User for EMR.
  3. Refills and pre-authorizes medications, communicates with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies. Manages medication samples and disposes of expired medications. Prepares and maintains exam rooms and orders supplies.
  4. Obtains medical information from patients, returns calls, responds to MyChart messages, and manages work queues in EMR. Schedules appointments, checks-in/out patients, and handles pre-certifications.
  5. Operates diagnostic equipment such as EKG and monitors. Performs clinical duties like phlebotomy and cast removal.
  6. Ensures a safe environment by following standards and legal regulations. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to legal responsibilities. Supports quality and patient experience initiatives.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree or Certified/Registered MA preferred. 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, EMR, and scheduling systems. Strong communication skills and willingness to travel as needed. Clinical skills such as phlebotomy and EKG are highly preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: BLS certification required. Certified/Registered MA preferred. Must complete skills orientation.
