Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide clinical care and clerical support in our clinic. Under licensed supervision, you will assist providers with patient examinations, take vital signs, perform EKGs and phlebotomy, and support registry and documentation tasks.

The role requires a High School Diploma, a MA credential approved by the MA Department of Health, and a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification required; obtain within 3 months if not on hire.
• MA credential approved by MA Department of Health; equivalent combinations may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests.
• Assist with injections and routine physical examinations.
• Document lab results and communicate abnormal findings to clinicians.
• Maintain inventory and ensure supplies are stocked and organized.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed by procedures.
• Collaborate with insurers for eligibility and pre-authorizations as needed.
