Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide clinical care and support front-office and clinic functions under the supervision of a licensed clinician.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, handling clerical tasks, maintaining supplies, and coordinating patient flow, scheduling, and referrals. Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and MA credential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS or HeartSaver certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months from hire.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health or equivalent substituted education/experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests per clinic standards.
• Assist with routine physicals and clinical procedures.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed.
• Maintain patient records and coordinate with insurers for pre-authorizations.
• Collect co-pays and manage clerical duties per protocol.
• Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
