AltaMed Health Services is seeking a Medical Assistant II to act as a welcoming clinic ambassador, perform routine patient care, and support clerical and EHR tasks. This role emphasizes compassionate patient interactions and accurate documentation across specialties.

The MA II will mentor team members, assist in achieving department goals, and may support telephone duties at the Patient Service Center as needed.

Qualifications

• A Medical Assistant certificate and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.
• 1 year minimum back office MA experience preferred in outpatient/clinic settings.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• National MA certification preferred.
• BLS certification or higher required.

Responsabilités

• Assist in direct patient care as an MA II in clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team.
• Document all care specialties in the EHR and support back-office needs.
• Provide mentorship and training to MA staff and support department goals.
• Help maintain patient satisfaction by being welcoming and respectful.

Job Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) II functions as an AltaMed ambassador at the assigned clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team. The MA is welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and creates a positive patient experience by managing expectations while demonstrating compassion and respect. The MA assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures and technical/clerical support services in the clinical setting. The MA builds relationships with patients, listening to them and gaining their trust. The MA demonstrates compassion and respect and will be proactive in managing patients’ expectations. In addition, the Medical Assistant documents all specialties in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and assists with administrative responsibilities that include providing feedback on Back-Office processes to the Nursing Supervisor/Manager. Lastly, the MA assists in achieving department goals and objectives by providing support and guidance to the Medical Assistant team as a mentor and trainer. If working at the Patient Service Center, the MA provides other duties over the telephone.

Minimum Requirements

• A Medical Assistant certificate, along with a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a back office Medical Assistant preferred in the outpatient setting, medical practice, or clinic setting.
• Phlebotomy certified preferred
• Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location, strongly preferred.
• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$26.00 - $30.55 hourly
