Job summary

Catalyst Physician Group in North Texas seeks a Medical Assistant II to support patient care across locations. You will room patients, record vitals, document in EMR, and assist with basic tests, vaccines and procedures while upholding infection control, HIPAA and safety protocols.

The role includes handling spirometry, nebulizers, pediatric vaccines, audiometry; supporting care teams, managing the clinical inbox, and aiding care coordination and prior authorizations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent certification.
• Current BLS certification preferred or within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Phlebotomy, Quality Metrics/VBC, and/or Precepting.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vitals, document in EMR, basic tests/procedures, medications and vaccines.
• Perform equipment use such as spirometry, nebulizers, audiometry, pediatric vaccine administration.
• Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and safety protocols.
• Support care coordination, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Cross-train to assist other departments and locations as needed.
• Serve as a preceptor for onboarding and training new MAs.

The Medical Assistant II performs all duties of a Medical Assistant I with increased independence and competence. This role includes more independent clinical duties, broader EMR documentation responsibilities, and the ability to support more complex workflows while ensuring excellent patient experience.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Rooming patients, adheres to rooming guidelines, vitals, accurately documents in the EMR, basic tests/procedures, medications and vaccinesPerforms all standard and specialized equipment such as spirometry, nebulizers, pediatric vaccine knowledge, audiometryAdheres to and teaches established policies and procedures including but not limited to infection control, HIPAA, and safety protocolsDemonstrates the knowledge and flexibility to support other providers, departments, and mentor staffReviews patient schedules, performs encounter preparation, and escalates appropriately within scopeSupports provider in Value Based Care initiativesClinical inbox management for self and providerCross-Trained to work in other depts./roles/locationsCovers Nurse/MA Visits Schedule and performs ancillary proceduresPod/Station Lead for compliance/inventoryParticipates in assigned clinical related projectsProficiency in prescription refills per protocol and patient instructionsAdvanced knowledge of OSHA safety regulationsServe as a preceptor for onboarding and training new MAsSupport care coordination efforts including referrals and prior authorizations.Identify clinical workflow improvements and share recommendations with leadershipSupport EMR documentation, including chart preparation and accurate note entryRelay provider instructions to patients and follow up as directed.Communicate with care team to maintain efficient clinic flow across all functionsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of accredited Medical Assistant programCertification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS certification for healthcare providers with hands on component preferred or within 60 days of hireA minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting is requiredDocumented proficiency in additional skills i.e. Phlebotomy, Quality Metrics/VBC, and/or Precepting
