Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist University Group Practice in Winston-Salem is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient flow, take vitals, and prepare patients for exams. The role involves basic lab work, assisting providers, and administering routine medications under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited Medical Assistant program certificate, BLS, and 1 year of experience preferred. Full-time daytime hours, benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Windows navigation, and EMR use.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture, specimen collection) with aseptic technique.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols, including immunizations and antibiotics.
• Records requests and referrals, ensures smooth clinic flow, and relays information to patients as directed.
