Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. CPR Certification required.

Job Summary:

Provide technical, supportive, age-specific, and developmentally appropriate patient care functions within the assigned clinical area.

Job Duties:

  1. Assist with patient flow in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. Respond promptly to call-lights and provide comfort measures to patients and families.
  3. Perform technical and supportive patient care skills, following the patient's care plan and approved policies and procedures:
  • Obtain vital signs and document chief complaints and reasons for visits.
  • Use aseptic techniques and infection control measures.
  • Collect excretory specimens accurately.
  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples.
  • Conduct tests such as urine chemistry, guaiac, pH, blood glucose, UPT, and hemocult.
  • Measure and record intake and output as ordered.
  • Prepare and assist with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Recognize patient care priorities, treatment plans, and potential crises.
  • Under physician's direction, provide additional treatments and care appropriate to training.
  • Identify and communicate patient needs and unusual occurrences.
  • Refill patient medications as requested, following prescribing guidelines and policies.
  • Administer medications safely and properly as assigned.
  • Document and communicate interventions and measurements accurately.
  • Communicate relevant information to healthcare providers.
  • Complete accurate, legible documentation on patient records under supervision.
  • Assist with medication reconciliation as needed.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and environment, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
  • Check equipment for safety, expiration dates, and usability; clean and store properly.
  • Report equipment and supply needs for replacement or repair.
  • Stock rooms, carts, and cabinets as assigned.
  • Respect patient rights and serve as a patient/family advocate.
  • Practice confidentiality and ethical resource utilization.
  • Maintain positive relations with patients, families, and colleagues, and handle guest concerns professionally.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate productivity and cost-awareness.
  • Be a supportive team member, remain calm in emergencies, and participate in meetings and training.
  • Stay current with required education, credentials, and certifications; engage in self-evaluation and professional development.
  • Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.

    Work Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional additional hours.
