Job Description

Medical Assistant I provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN.

Medical Assistant II/III provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN. This position requires additional duties, including administration of injectables and/or other high-level skill performance.

• Salary Range: $39,179 – $57,548 (based on education, experience, certifications, etc.)

Qualifications

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or GED; graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school.

Experience

• MA I - Entry-level; no experience required with Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant, or 1 year of related experience without certification.
• MA II - 5 years of related experience with Certification/Registration, or 6 years without.
• MA III - 8 years of related experience with Certification/Registration, or 9 years without.

Licenses

Required: N/A

Skills

• Complete review/skill validation within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to use equipment and supplies for patient care.
• Computer experience, basic medical/nursing terminology.

Other Requirements

• MA I: BLS through American Heart Association.
• MA II/III: BLS certification, plus specific modules (e.g., Immunizations, Wound Care).
