Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide technical, supportive, age-specific patient care in an outpatient clinic setting. The role includes assisting with patient flow, performing vitals, specimens, blood draws, and routine tests under physician supervision.

CPR certification is required, and the incumbent will maintain documentation, assist with treatments, and support a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment on-site.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow within outpatient clinic setting.
• Obtains vital signs and documents chief complaint and reason for visit.
• Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures.
• Accurately collects specimens and obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Performs tests (urine chemistry, guaiac, pH, glucose, urine pregnancy tests, hemocult).
• Maintains medication reconciliation and documents/ communicates interventions.
