Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide age-specific patient care in an outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; CPR certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant or graduate of approved Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow within assigned outpatient clinic setting.
• Performs technical and supportive patient care skills following physician plan of care and approved policies.
• Refills patient medications as requested according to prescribing physician/provider guidelines.
• Accurately documents/communicates interventions and measurements; communicates with appropriate health care provider.
• Under supervision, completes accurate, concise documentation on patient clinic records.
• Assists with medication reconciliation as required.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and the environment; ensures clean and safe conditions.
• Respects patient rights and serves as patient/family advocate; maintains confidentiality.
• Engages in teamwork and ongoing education to support clinic operations.
