Responsibilities
- Check in and check out patients, schedule tests and procedures, and verify insurance coverage and authorizations.
- Prepare charts, enter charges, complete required paperwork, and maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Perform medical necessity checks, gather and record health history, vital signs, and other pertinent data.
- Respond to patient phone calls, document requests, and communicate with clinical staff and providers as needed.
- Provide basic patient care, perform point‑of‑care skills and clinical procedures within certification, and administer medications.
- Demonstrate service excellence, maintain patient privacy, and engage in patient and employee satisfaction initiatives.
- Work efficiently, prioritize tasks, improve workflow, and collaborate within the interdisciplinary team.
- Assume responsibility for professional development, complete required competencies, maintain certifications, and serve as a preceptor for new staff.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines, and support wellness through patient/family education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area.
Experience Requirement
- 0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
- Part‑time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
Certifications & Licensures
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Physical Demands
- Regular standing or walking with objects up to 10 pounds.
- Intermittent standing or walking with objects up to 25 pounds.
- Intermittent lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
- Occasional sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- Performing tasks with intermittent repetitive motions.
- Intermittent risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials.
- Intermittent risk of injuries from use of equipment.
- Job‑related travel.
- Occasional exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, and hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste.
- Intermittent exposure to cuts or punctures and bloodborne or airborne pathogens.
- Occasional interaction with combative or violent people.
