Job summary

OCC - Advanced Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists in Colorado is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support physicians with basic patient care and deliver excellent customer service. You will follow established protocols, assist during procedures, and help keep exam rooms stocked and ready for patients.

Day-to-day duties include rooming patients, processing orders, entering data into Phreesia/MIPS, maintaining supplies, and coordinating with front desk for scheduling.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with BLS required.
• Minimum of 2 years as a medical assistant preferred.
• Strong patient-service orientation and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic rooming, create surgery and x-ray orders.
• Enter patient data into the EHR (Phreesia/MIPS).
• Maintain supplies and clean exam rooms; sterilize instruments.
• Assist physicians during procedures and monitor patients in recovery.
• Enter consultations, notes, labs, radiology and pathology into records.
• Provide patient education on policies, medications, home care and diets.
• Manage consent forms and respond to calls/messages.
• Assist front desk with scheduling and appointments.
• Complete OSHA sign-off lists.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for assisting physicians with basic patient care and providing unparalleled customer service to patients while adhering to established protocols, processes and volume without ever compromising quality.

Essential Functions

• Basic rooming, along with creating surgery orders & x-ray orders
• Phreesia/MIPS Input
• Maintain supplies, equipment, prepare and clean exam/procedure rooms, stocking and sterilizing instruments ensuring patient rooms are stocked, cleaned, and presentable
• Assist physician as needed during procedure; monitor patient in recovery area
• Ensure all initial consultations, pertinent notes, lab slips, radiology and pathology reports are entered in the patient’s file and available to the physician prior to patient arrival
• Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of pain/injury/disease, home treatments and special diets using appropriate medical terminology as directed by the physician
• Ensure all consent forms are completed, signed and filed
• Respond to patient / physician / pharmacy calls calls/messages and assist with their needs
• Assist front desk with rescheduling patients
• OSHA sign off lists

Required Qualifications And Skills

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years working as a medical assistant preferred
• Strong focus on patient quality and customer service
• Excellent follow through to see tasks to completion
• Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
• Possesses a high degree of self-motivation and produces high quality work with minimal supervision
