Job summary

The San Antonio AIDS Foundation is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the clinic manager and provide patient care under physician supervision. You will manage patient flow, assist in procedures, and help ensure accurate records and safe medication handling.

As a MA, you will perform vital signs, phlebotomy, and vaccinations while maintaining HIPAA compliance. The role emphasizes cultural competency for LGBTQIA++ communities and marginalized groups in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED; completion of a medical assistant program.
• Medical Assistant certification required.
• BLS Phlebotomy certification.
• Minimum 1 year MA outpatient experience required.
• Comfort interacting with the public and patients with special needs.
• Ability to work under pressure and organize information for quick retrieval.
• Computer skills and medical terminology knowledge.
• Preferred: bilingual Spanish/English.
• Preferred: 3+ years in physician office or ambulatory care; billing/audits experience.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and verify patient identity.
• Record vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history.
• Document and maintain medical records per regulations and policies.
• Handle and administer medications per standards and policy.
• Assist physicians during procedures as required.
• Maintain continuing education credits to stay certified.
• Perform vaccinations per ASN program and assist uninsured patients.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Perform other duties as directed.
