Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing leadership in a busy ambulatory setting at the Jackson Hematology Oncology location. You will perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a seamless, compassionate patient experience.

Responsibilities include patient greeting and rooming, collecting histories and vitals, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program with externship (160 hours) or 1-year clinical medical assisting experience.
• Current MA certification or LPN/EMT/paramedic credentials are accepted.
• Military medical personnel with recent clinical experience may qualify.
• CPR/BLS certification on hire or within orientation.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable experience.
• Obtain and record accurate medical histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).OR

Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.OR

Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).OR

Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.OR

Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

• Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
