Job summary

Scripps Coastal Medical Center in Encinitas is seeking a Clinical Support professional. This full-time Medical Assistant role involves 8-hour shifts between 7am–8pm with weekend and holiday rotations.

The position supports providers, handles registration, and delivers hands-on clinical care to a diverse patient mix. Responsibilities include vitals, rooming, vaccines and injections, patient education, and front-dine duties while maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR Certification OR two years as a military corpsman.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Preferred: 1 year MA outpatient experience, pediatric experience, injections and vaccines, PPD placement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized, safe environment.
• Perform patient care services supporting providers and clinic.
• Front Office duties: registration, scheduling, check-ins, co-pays, check-outs.
• Provide clinical support: vitals, rooming, stocking rooms, immunizations, covid swabbing, patient education.
• Manage a wide variety of acute care patients.
• Handle high patient volumes (25–50/day).

Job description

This is a benefited, full time position working 8-hr shifts sometime between 7am-8pm on varied days. Every other weekend (both Saturdays and Sundays) and holiday rotations required. Located in Encinitas but flexibility to float to neighboring Scripps Health Express locations required.

Position Description:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Perform patient care services that support the providers and clinic

• Clinical support by checking patient vitals, rooming patients, stocking exam rooms, point of care duties, immunizations, covid swabbing, and providing patient education

• Patient volumes of 25 and up per day (sometimes as high as 50)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year MA experience in an outpatient setting
• Pediatric experience
• Customer service experience
• Experience with injections and vaccines
• Experience with PPD (tuberculin) placement
