Job summary

PeaceHealth Medical Group in Vancouver, WA, is seeking a Medical Assistant for General Surgery. This full-time, day-shift role supports patients before, during, and after surgical care, and emphasizes building relationships beyond routine rooming.

You will obtain vital signs, document health histories, assist with procedures, and coordinate tests and referrals in a collaborative clinic setting. A MA program completion and MA-C/BLS credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Must have completed a Medical Office Assistant program that qualifies you to sit for certification.
• Must have completed a Medical Assistant apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and prepare them for appointments.
• Obtain and document vital signs, health history, and visit information.
• Set up exam and procedure rooms and maintain clinical supplies.
• Assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
• Administer injections and medications as ordered.
• Apply dressings, splints, and assist with basic wound care.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and instruments.
• Coordinate tests, referrals, follow-up visits, and other patient care needs.
• Answer patient calls and route clinical questions appropriately.
• Document patient information accurately in the EMR.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
• Help patients feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout their care experience.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Completion of a Medical Office Assistant program that qualifies you to sit for certification

Completion of a Medical Assistant apprenticeship program
