Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Ontario General Surgery clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a general surgeon and potentially other providers in delivering exceptional patient care. The role involves rooming patients, chart preparation, and assisting with minor procedures in a busy surgery clinic.

The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and patient-focused, with BLS certification and MA credentialing within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• MA certification within 90 days of hire from Saint Alphonsus approved agencies.
• New Graduates: MA certificate of completion or externship/6 months MA experience in lieu of externship hours.
• Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 year MA experience OR current MA Certification or obtain/renew certification within 90 days from hire.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA/ARC/military training network at hire.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and complete chart prep.
• Assist with minor procedures when needed.
• Perform patient follow-up, manage in-basket messages, and schedule surgeries.
• Assist with referrals and prior authorizations.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

MA certification within 90 days of hire

MA certification from approved agencies

New Graduates: MA certificate or externship/experience requirement

MA experience or current MA certification for experienced applicants
