General Summary
Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

General Summary
Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

These duties may include but are not limited to:

• Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.
• Obtaining medical histories.
• Measuring and recording vital signs.
• Preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
• Assisting the provider during examinations or procedures.

Overview of Position

• The MA will work in a procedural area directly assisting GI Providers with Colonoscopy and EGD procedures.
• They will adhere to scope cleaning protocols set by Infection Control and Scope Manufacturers.
• Participation in thorough orientation to ensure safety and comfort in the department.
• Work in a team-oriented, busy department requiring teamwork and a positive attitude.

Timing
Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, no weekends, no holidays, and no on-call.

Location / Address
Located on the 3rd floor in the Columbus Center in Novi, at the corner of 12 Mile Rd and Haggerty Road.

Education/Experience Required

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to perform clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
• Problem-solving and interpersonal skills preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant from AAMA/CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program with a clinical externship (minimum 160 hours).
• OR one year of recent clinical medical assisting experience if no externship.
• OR current recognized Medical Assistant Certification with five years of experience.
• OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• OR Licensed Paramedic/EMT with one-year recent clinical experience.
• OR military-trained medical personnel with one-year recent clinical experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required

• Current BLS-C certification upon hire or by the end of orientation.
