Job summary

Scripps Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley in San Diego. The role blends front-office and back-office duties, including rooming patients, taking vitals, and assisting with procedures.

You will support providers across locations, use the EPIC EMR system, and handle scheduling and basic registration while maintaining a clean, safe environment for patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA) is required

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients
• Checking vitals
• Assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Predominantly back-office duties with occasional front-office support
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services supporting the provider
• Relays instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
• Collects patient data in person and by phone
• Documents patient concerns and care in the EMR
• Administers medications as directed by the provider
• Schedules of appointments and procedures
• Completes and routes messages to the appropriate area
• Orders and referrals entry
• Acquires pre-certifications
• Sets up cases in EPIC
• Performs basic registration and updating of demographics
• Other duties as needed
