Job summary

Loyal Source Government Services seeks a Medical Assistant to support Compensation & Pension disability examinations for Veterans through the VA. The role blends clinical and administrative tasks, preparing claimants, performing tests, and maintaining records to ensure smooth exam flow.

This is not a treatment role. Based in Austin, TX, the position offers a predictable weekday schedule (Mon-Fri 8-5) with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; MA certification preferred where applicable by state regulations.
• Current BLS certification with renewals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with claimants, providers, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Proficiency with computer systems, EMR, and standard office apps.
• Authorized to work in the United States and meet federal contractor requirements.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: Obtain and document vital signs (BP, pulse).
• Prepare claimants for examinations and diagnostic testing (ECG/EKG, ABI, PFT).
• Collect blood specimens for testing.
• Perform PFT and ECGs and upload results for interpretation.
• Calibrate clinic equipment (PFT, AEDs).
• Chaperone claimants during examinations when required.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment; clean and disinfect after visits.
