GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the health care team, assists in coordinating the examination, treatment and health care planning for patients. Assists with other office functions to support patient care and office operations. Follows all established protocols, policies, procedures and standardized workflows.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider, using a team-based approach.
  2. Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs, document patient information, history, tobacco and medication screening, and assist with screenings and updates in the EHR.
  3. Perform back office testing following AHN protocols.
  4. Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
  5. Serve as a scribe with additional training if applicable.
  6. Follow up with patients via preferred method and notify them of test results under provider direction.
  7. Prepare exam rooms, ensure inventory of supplies, and maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments.
  8. Perform lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
  9. Administer and document medications accurately.
  10. Document all activities in the EHR according to standards.
  11. Perform clerical duties and other assigned tasks.
  12. May need to float/travel between locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High School / GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant or direct patient care experience including vital signs.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background clearances

Certification Requirements:

  • Graduate from a medical assistant program within five years or proof of recent work experience as a medical assistant; must complete certification training/testing within 30 days and obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
  • Accepted certifications include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.

Opportunity to sit for a company proctored certification exam if not qualified yet.

Preferred
  • Associate's Degree
