Job description

Medical Assistant Float - Central West Region - Evernorth Care Group (Finance)

This float role is eligible for a 6% premium pay. If you choose to transition out of the float position in the future, you will forfeit this incentive.

This role is also eligible for round-trip mileage reimbursement from your designated "home center" to other centers. This is a worksite-dependent position.

Are you ready to utilize your organizational skills, multitasking ability, and drive to help others? We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced, customer-focused primary care/adult medicine departments across the Phoenix Valley. If you enjoy working in outpatient healthcare and a friendly environment, this position might be perfect for you.

Work hours: Typically Monday-Friday, 7-8 a.m. to 4-5 p.m.

Primary Centers: Phoenix Central, Paradise Valley, Westridge, and Palm Valley

Secondary Centers: Arrowhead, Paseo, Sun City, and Sun City West

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure smooth daily operations in the clinic, managing healthcare needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Room patients, record vital signs, enter data into patient charts, assist with procedures, review medications, and outreach to patients and providers for ongoing care.
  • Follow all policies and procedures accurately, working within your certification scope.
  • Provide excellent, friendly customer service via all communication channels.
  • Document all care and information provided to patients.
  • Return patient calls, complete referrals, prepare charts, and manage forms.
  • Address questions, concerns, and requests in person, via the electronic health record system EPIC, patient portal, or by phone.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, peers, and patients to meet practice needs.
  • Manage ambiguity appropriately and handle conflicts constructively.
  • Cross-train in the Front Office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program, or
  • Graduate of an unapproved program with successful completion of a state certification exam, or
  • Graduate of a US Armed Forces medical services program.

Additional requirements include previous healthcare experience and BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 1 year of outpatient experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Front office experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EPIC electronic health record system
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to empathetic, high-quality care
