Job summary

Navista's cCARE La Jolla site is hiring a Medical Assistant to join a growing oncology practice alliance. You will room patients, collect medical history, prepare rooms, and assist with procedures including bone marrow biopsies under provider direction.

You will also help with scheduling, triage calls, and medication administration while supporting multiple San Diego County locations. The role requires a Medical Assistant diploma, current CPR/BLS, and experience.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant diploma required.
• Current CPR/BLS.
• Fluent in Spanish, highly preferred.
• Medical Assistant experience required.
• Travel amongst our cCARE San Diego County locations.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and records medical history and vital statistics.
• Prepares treatment room and maintains supplies/equipment.
• Assists with procedures including bone marrow biopsy per provider direction.
• Assists with scheduling routine appointments and check-out procedures.
• Prepares bone marrow specific to physician direction and supports providers.
• Engages with patients with a compassionate and caring attitude.
• Maintains and updates medication knowledge and attends trainings.
• Administers medications as directed per policy.
• Triages phone calls and relays information to staff and providers.
• Provides MA coverage across cCARE San Diego County locations.

This full-time position has an anticipated hourly pay range of $23.00 per hour – $30.20 per hour

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and accurately collects and records patients’ medical history; including vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
• Prepares treatment room, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Prepares procedural area and assists with treatments including bone marrow biopsy specific to the provider’s direction.
• Assists with scheduling routine appointments and check out procedures.
• Prepares bone marrow specific to the physician’s direction, and anticipates needs of the provider, and other providers.
• Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
• Consistently maintains and updates medication knowledge, staying current with industry trends and standards, attends in-services internal or external.
• Prepares and administers medications as directed by provider and in accordance with cCARE policies and procedures.
• Requests insurance authorizations and schedule appointments for STAT procedures including but not limited to blood transfusion, paracentesis, thoracentesis and brain MRIs.
• Documents receipt, assists with ensures completion of disability and other miscellaneous forms/ letters in a timely manner.
• Effectively assists with E-Prescribing, authorizing drug refills and physician and Physician Dispensing.
• Triages phone calls and routes and relays information in a timely manner to staff and providers in a timely manner.
• Daily review and processing of voicemails, reminders, and emails.
• Provide Medical Assistant coverage amongst our cCARE San Diego County locations.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant diploma required
• Current CPR/BLS
• Fluent in Spanish, highly preferred
• Medical Assistant experience required
