Cardinal Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for cCARE Cancer Center in La Jolla, CA. This full-time role supports patient care, records medical histories, prepares rooms, and assists with procedures including bone marrow biopsy as directed by the provider.

Qualified candidates have a Medical Assistant diploma, current CPR/BLS, and experience. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred. Travel across San Diego County locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and accurately collects and records medical history and vital statistics.
• Prepares treatment room, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment.
• Assists with treatments including bone marrow biopsy as directed.
• Schedules routine appointments and check-out procedures.
• Prepares bone marrow specific to physician’s direction and anticipates provider needs.
• Triages calls and relays information to staff and providers promptly.
• Performs E-Prescribing, manages refills and physician dispensing.
• Provides coverage across cCARE San Diego County locations.

This full-time position hasan anticipatedhourly pay range of$23.00 per hour - $30.20 per hour

Responsibilities

• Roomspatients and accurately collects and records patients’ medical history; including vital statistics, allergies,medicationsand concerns.
• Prepares treatment room, stocks andmaintainssupplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Prepares procedural area andassistswith treatments including bone marrow biopsy specific to the provider’s direction.
• Assistswith scheduling routine appointments and check out procedures.
• Prepares bone marrow specific to the physician’s direction, andanticipatesneedsof the provider, and other providers.
• Addresses patients with a compassionate,friendlyand caring attitude.
• Consistentlymaintainsand updates medication knowledge, staying current with industry trends and standards, attends in-services internal or external.
• Prepares and administers medications as directed by provider andin accordance withcCAREpolicies and procedures.
• Requestsinsurance authorizations and schedule appointments for STAT procedures including but not limited to blood transfusion, paracentesis,thoracentesisand brain MRIs.
• Documents receipt,assistswith ensures completion of disability and other miscellaneous forms/ lettersin a timely manner.
• Effectivelyassistswith E-Prescribing, authorizing drug refills and physician and Physician Dispensing.
• Triages phone calls and routes and relays informationin a timely mannerto staff and providersin a timely manner.
• Daily review and processing of voicemails, reminders, and emails.
• Provide Medical Assistant coverage amongst our cCARE San Diego County locations.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant diploma required
• Current CPR/BLS
• Fluent in Spanish, highly preferred
• Medical Assistant experience required
• Travel amongst our cCARE San Diego County locations
