Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for California Urology in Clovis, CA to handle referrals, scheduling, and patient communications. You will coordinate with insurance for authorizations and ensure proper documentation in the EMR.

This role requires strong customer service experience and an MA certificate. Location is on-site in Clovis, with a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational institution preferred.
• Strong customer service background, preferably in healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Process all outbound referrals in a timely manner, prioritizes urgent and STAT items appropriately.
• Ensures all pertinent paperwork regarding patient referrals is completed and documented in EMR.
• Scheduling of patient follow-ups, non-treatment related. Scheduling of labs and port flushes appropriately and correctly.
• Provides effective insurance authorization as needed. Submits all necessary documentation and proper diagnosis to insurance when submitting authorization.
• Keeps patients informed of status of referrals/authorizations.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, both on the phone and in person.
• Processes genetic testing and coordinates with pathology departments to ensure proper specimens are sent.
• Complete tasks as stated in the Admin MA SOP
• Back up clinical MA when needed.
• Effectively completes other duties and projects as assigned.
