Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care in Newtown, CT is seeking a Medical Assistant (Float) to support multiple centers across Connecticut and New York. The position covers shifts in Newtown and Southbury, providing patient-focused care and collaborative clinical support.

You will assist providers with exams and procedures, perform vital signs, wound care, and basic diagnostic testing, while handling administrative tasks such as charting and front-office support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems
• CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
• A commitment to confidentiality, safety, and patient-centered care

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments while ensuring a smooth and compassionate patient experience.
• Perform vital signs, wound care, diagnostic testing (e.g., EKG, PCR), specimen collection, and more.
• Manage patient records, handle correspondence, and support front office operations.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment, and support training of new staff
